Cops Illegally Raid Wrong House Of Innocent Man With Dementia In Erie, Pennsylvania! 😤

In Millcreek Township Erie Pennsylvania on March 12 2023 SWAT officers from the Erie Police Department Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Task Force and US Marshals stormed the home of Lance Thornton a 52 year old man suffering from early onset dementia based solely on one anonymous Crime Stoppers tip about a fugitive with an attempted homicide warrant.

The tip was wrong. Lance Thornton had zero connection to the suspect and the judge had already denied the police a search warrant for lack of probable cause.

Bodycam and doorbell footage shows the officers ripping out his doorbell camera throwing it in the yard then kicking in his front door when he did not answer fast enough while he was sleeping. Once at the door the visibly confused and scared Lance Thornton explained his dementia diagnosis multiple times yet the officers pressured him for consent to search.

He initially gave permission but quickly withdrew consent on camera multiple times yelling that he was revoking it and demanding they stop. They ignored him continued the illegal search anyway tracked mystery substances across his carpet ruined two bedrooms and left his front door broken and unable to lock.

Lance Thornton suffered a stroke shortly after the raid which he and his family attribute directly to the trauma and stress of the unconstitutional police raid. He filed public records requests for bodycam footage but was initially denied and directed between agencies. His daughter started a GoFundMe to help with damages and medical costs.

Fast forward to 2025 Lance Thornton filed a major federal lawsuit Thornton versus United States of America et al case number 1:25-cv-00065 in the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania claiming Fourth Amendment violations illegal search after consent withdrawn emotional distress and property damage.

Reports indicated a potential 3.5 million dollar claim. Erie police and the task force have denied any wrongdoing calling their actions lawful. As of early 2026 the case remains ongoing with no settlement or final payout announced yet.

This bodycam footage exposes shocking police misconduct in Erie Pennsylvania including tyrant cops ignoring a dementia victim revoking consent anonymous tip raid gone wrong and clear Fourth Amendment violations caught on camera.
