This funeral took place in Whitby, North Yorkshire, at the historic Church of St Mary’s, situated right next to Whitby Abbey. Built in 1110, this unique Norman church features towering pews and an elevated pulpit, which presented some filming challenges. However, arriving early for setup allowed me to carefully plan camera angles and ensure that every significant moment was captured with professionalism and care.
The setting was truly remarkable—overlooking the River Esk, with Whitby Abbey in the background and seagulls soaring overhead on a sunny yet windy day. As a funeral videographer, my focus was on capturing not just the service but also the surrounding atmosphere, ensuring the final film was a fitting tribute to a life well lived.
