We have ingots! Maybe not exactly plates, but we're nearly there. The distributed train base is nearly alive, and once it is, all of our throughput issues will be solved. I've mostly foregone progress for over a week now, and hopefully with this one last push we can start on pink science soon - and that means requester chests are on the horizon! I keep wondering if maybe it wouldn't have been easier to just slap together some pink science to get logistics up and running before transitioning to the train base, then I glance over at blue science... Yeah, that wasn't happening.
We'll also have artillery soon, and I can stop worrying so much about expanding. With the ability to take out biters from range (and more importantly, not have to keep death looping every time I try to take land) I can finally expand the base's perimeter as much as I want!
I am a little worried about congestion on the rails once everything comes to life, but hopefully once I have elevated rails I'll be able to add in a few dedicated "highways" for the high traffic areas to lighten the load - that solution is still a ways off of course, but hey, so is the problem! Let's worry about getting the base running first, then worry about getting it to run well.
