What's my guidance on how to make the performance feedback and coaching process more meaningful or even led by the employee versus a top-down annual approach?
Many organizations we work with have a performance management system in place that hardly functions. Put simply, too many leaders see the processes burdensome and loathsome, resulting in real work taking precedence.
While that situation exists, nothing will change. This tells us that workplace culture must be a top-three priority of the senior leadership team. As soon as that is the case, things flow logically, including a genuine desire to help people align with the aspirational culture and the need for personal growth.
