captured this close-up video of the Moon using my iPhone attached to a 400 mm Celestron telescope with a 25 mm eyepiece on an alt-az mount. The footage was recorded during a waxing gibbous phase, when shadows along the lunar terminator reveal dramatic surface detail.
In this video, you can clearly see major lunar features including Mare Imbrium, the Apennine Mountain range, and prominent impact craters such as Copernicus. The changing angle of sunlight highlights the Moon’s rugged topography, making this phase ideal for telescopic observation and imaging.
This video is part of my ongoing astronomy and physics content, where I explore the night sky using accessible equipment and explain what we’re seeing in clear, practical terms.
