Описание: Samui United are set to embark on their first-ever professional campaign in the 2025/26 season, joining Thai League 3’s southern division.

“It’s a dream come true,” says former Thailand international Mika Chunuonsee – the club’s driving force. Last season, he took on the roles of vice chairman, manager, head coach, and even came out of retirement to play, helping the team secure promotion.

Raised on the tropical island of Koh Samui, the 36-year-old previously played in Thai League 1 for clubs including Bangkok United and Lamphun Warriors. He now takes great pride in building a squad made up largely of local talent.

Originally founded as a youth academy, the club still places strong emphasis on developing young players – a key pillar of the model Chunuonsee has established.

“What’s better than giving back to where you’re from?” he says. Thanks to his vision, Koh Samui will now host professional football “for the first time in history”.

The club is based at the top-tier Maraleina Sports Resort – where Chunuonsee is the business development manager – offering an attractive setting for players looking to make their mark in Thai football.

But he’s clear on the club’s values: “If you want to come here for the money, it’s not the place for you.” The focus is firmly on ensuring financial sustainability and building something that lasts.

Despite only playing in the Thai Semi-Pro League last season, Samui United already draw impressive crowds at home games, with locals, expats, and holidaymakers all turning out to cheer on the Islanders.

“มันคือความฝันที่กลายเป็นจริง” มิก้า ชูนวลศรี อดีตทีมชาติไทยและผู้ผลักดันสโมสรกล่าวไว้ ฤดูกาลที่ผ่านมา เขารับบทบาทรองประธานสโมสร ผู้จัดการ หัวหน้าโค้ช และถึงขั้นกลับมาลงสนามเองเพื่อพาทีมเลื่อนชั้น

มิก้าเติบโตมาบนเกาะสมุย เขาเคยค้าแข้งในไทยลีก 1 กับหลายสโมสร รวมถึง แบงค็อก ยูไนเต็ด และ ลำพูน วอริเออร์ ปัจจุบันเขาภูมิใจอย่างยิ่งที่ได้สร้างทีมโดยใช้ผู้เล่นท้องถิ่นเป็นแกนหลัก
