How to Give Subcutaneous Fluids to a Cat at Home Video

Описание: This video features my parents' 16-year old seal mitted Ragdoll cat, Caymus, who is in renal failure. He gets subcutaneous fluids on a daily basis to help him stay hydrated. Because the kidneys are no longer working properly, the fluids help to keep them and the rest of his organs functioning and also help him stay comfortable - dehydration is awful.

Caymus is the epitome of a Ragdoll cat - he goes limp when you pick him up, so while he is not feeling his best, please know that his behavior here is pretty normal. You can see at the end of the video when I finally put him on the ground, that he's doing OK.

I wanted to do this video because when I first did fluids on him and put the needle (of the fluids) between his shoulder blades, the fluid sack would fall to his leg, making it so he had to swing his leg to walk. My vet helped to show me how I could put it further back so that the fluid sack falls to his belly. I wish I could have found a video like this when I started, so I wanted to get it online.
