The chapter foretells the coming of John the Baptist, “the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,” preparing the way of the Lord. It reveals God’s glory and the assurance that “the word of our God shall stand for ever,” contrasting the frailty of human life with the permanence of God’s word.

Isaiah then exalts God’s greatness—He is the Creator who measures the heavens, commands the nations, and reigns above all earthly powers. Idols are exposed as powerless compared to the everlasting God who neither faints nor grows weary. His understanding is infinite.
