"This year, we started from a theme called, 'Living Poetically: Art and Spirituality,' in order to truly explore the contribution in terms of intangible capital and immaterial wealth of this Sufi culture within society in general, within Moroccan society and in Fez in particular - but also in relation to questions that concern the entire world. In other words, have we lost this poetry of life?"

STORYLINE:
Around 200 artists, researchers and musicians are converging on Fez in Morocco for a festival that explores the impact of Sufi cultural heritage.
The 17th Festival aims to promote Sufi heritage, arts and spiritual values such as equality and tolerance.
"We are working hard to keep this heritage alive at all times and in all places. We also want to pass it on to future generations," said Ayoub Hanine, a member of a Sufi chanting group.
The festival includes artists from Morocco, Senegal, Turkey, India, Albania and Spain presenting musical performances, chanting and praise sessions, as well as workshops on Sufi rituals.
Paintings and writings are on display as part of the festival, which started on Oct. 18 and ends on Oct. 25.
