This video showcases an Ultimate Ironman method for killing Seren—the final boss of Song of the Elves (SOTE)—using lots of Guthix Rest (tea). Because UIM players that attempt to complete SOTE early on are often unable to make brews (or even use them efficiently without a trident), the two most popular methods for killing Seren are the Redemption combo-eating method and the Phoenix necklace method.
In the Redemption combo-eating method, players will bring pineapple pizzas, tuna potatoes, or other high-healing food alongside some Karambwans and prayer potions. The advantage to this method is that it's pretty fool-proof in terms of execution—just heal up before the nuke and let Redemption turn your prayer points into HP. The drawback is that constant eating of normal food (even with combo-eating in mind) delays the swing timer and causes significant missed damage over such a long fight.
With the Phoenix necklace method, your damage output is more consistent because you're not eating, but it requires some degree of 'skill' to consistently pull off balancing the equilibrium and timing the pneck properly. Although the pneck routine is easy on paper, the penalty for screwing up the timing is instant death. This turns some players off from the concept, even if it is the most efficient.
The Tea method attempts to bridge the gap between both methods. It utilizes the prayer-into-hp advantage from the Redemption method and combines it with the pneck method's consistent damage output. The result is an easy-to-pull-off method (like the Redemption method) that will more than likely be successful on the first attempt (like the Phoenix necklace)—without the stress of potentially instantly dying.
In the demonstration, I make a ton of mistakes and don't flick an offensive prayer throughout the duration. The mistakes were real, but choosing to not flick an offensive prayer was a choice I made because I wanted to demonstrate how reliable the method is even for players without the APM required to flick properly.
If you have a question about the method, ask in the comments here or contact me in-game.
