I walk from the Isis River Farmhouse along the Thames to Iffley Lock, and take a look at the lock and its buildings, including the Mathematical Bridge. Getting back on the towpath, I then walk under the road bridge and the old steel rail bridge, and along the Thames to Sandford, its lock, and the Kings Arms. The grassy expanse is a lovely area for dogs. On the way, I pass Rose Island and the ornate house that was once the Swan Hotel.
To give some reference points, I leave the river and walk back to Iffley Lock by road. This involves going from the Kings Arms through the grounds of the Voco Hotel, leaving them to join the Henley Road, and a brief diversion around Sandford's church, village hall, and — recommended — village café. There is also a café, by Restore, in the grounds of the Littlemore Mental Health Centre a little further on. I pass that, and walk through Littlemore to Rose Hill, then to Iffley Turn, and then through Iffley Village to Mill Lane, onto the lock grounds, and back to the Isis River Farmhouse.
