Описание: Time Rates
The derivative of a function is a rate of change and if time is the independent variable, then the derivative of the function is with respect to time and thus the topic of Time Rates.
The problem of rates is oftentimes solve when differentiating the function with respect to time if the variable whose rate is to be solved in terms of a variable whose rate is already known.

Sample Problems
1. A man walks across a foot bridge at a rate of 5 ft/s when a car directly beneath him passes by a rate of 10 ft/s. If the foot bridge is 30 ft above the ground, how fast are the man and the car separating 2 seconds later?
2. A ladder 20 ft long is leaning against a vertical wall. If the top slides downward at the rate of 2 ft/s, find how fast the lower end is moving when it is 16 ft from the wall.
3. A kite is 40 ft high, with 50 ft of cord out. If the kite moves horizontally at 5 mi/hr directly away from the boy flying it, how fast is the cord being rolled out?
