'জমিদার পুত্র রাজ(ওয়াসীম) শিকার করতে এসে নিজেই শিকার হয়ে যায় যাযাবর কন্যা দুলারীর(শাবানা) রুপের জালে৷ কিন্তুু জগনুর কুচক্রে রাজ বিছিন্ন হয়ে যায় দুলারীর কাছ থেকে৷ নতুন করে পরিচয় হয় চামেলীর(নূতন) সাথে৷ রাজকে নিয়ে শুরু হয় চামেলীর রঙ্গীন স্বপ্ন৷ কিন্তুু শীষনাগ চামেলীর প্রতিহিংসার প্রতিশোধ নিতে চায়৷ এদিকে দুলারী খুঁজে পায় রাজকে৷ শুরু হয় রাজকে নিয়ে দুলারী ও চামেলীর দ্বন্দ৷ কে পাবে রাজকে? চামেলী না দুলারী? আর এই প্রশ্নকেই সামনে রেখে সত্তর দশকে নির্মান হয়েছিলো বিগ মাল্টিকাষ্ট চলচ্চিত্র 'রাজ দুলারী'৷ যা মুক্তি পেয়েছিলো ১৯৭৮ সালের ২০ই জানুয়ারী৷ উল্লেখ্য এই ছবিটি ছিলো তখনকার সময়ের সবচেয়ে ব্যায় বহুল চলচ্চিত্র৷ শফি বিক্রমপুরী পরিচালিত দুধর্ষ ত্র্যাকশন ও নাচে গানে ভরপুর বাম্পার হিট এই ছবিটিতে অভিনয়ে ছিলেন শাবানা ওয়াসীম নূতন আদিল আহমেদ শরীফ ও জসিম৷

গান বা সংগীত আমাদের বাংলা চলচ্চিত্রে একটি অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ, গান ছাড়া আমাদের সিনেমা দর্শকরা কল্পনাও করতে পারেননা, অসংখ্য অসংখ্য জনপ্রিয় গান আছে আমাদের বাংলা চলচ্চিত্রে, যা বলে হয়তো শেষ করা যাবেনা, এমন অনেক ছবিও আছে শুধুমাত্র গানের জনপ্রিয়তার কারনে সেসব ছবি ব্যাবসায়ীক সফলতায় উৎরে গেছে, একটি পূর্নাঙ্গ গানের পিছনে গীতিকার তার কথায় একটি দেহ(প্রতিকী হিসেবে) তৈরি করেন, তাতে সুর দিয়ে প্রান সঞ্চার করেন সুরকার, কন্ঠ শিল্পী বাদ্যযন্ত্রের সহায়তায় সেটিকে কন্ঠে তুললে তা গান হয়ে পৌছায় শ্রোতাদের কানে৷
