Описание: Friends, family and teachers are mourning the loss of a 14-year-old Metro Schools student who was stabbed to death at a bus stop in North Nashville.

Malia Powell was killed on Dickerson Pike late Monday night when another teen reportedly stabbed her with a pocketknife.

Nashville Police are actively working to identify the suspect, who is described as a white girl with brown and purple hair. According to police, the two didn’t know each other, but “had words” inside a Walmart store. The confrontation continued into the parking lot and to a WeGo bus stop. That’s when the suspect reportedly asked Powell if she wanted to fight and then "charged her while holding a pocketknife."

Before officers arrived at the scene, Powell was taken to Skyline Medical Center where she died.

"My baby didn't deserve this. She was only 14 years old," says Malia's mother, Eboni Ridley Powell.

She finds it hard to talk about her daughter in the past tense.
