TrueEarl is reacting to the Wall Street Journal's hands-on test of the 1X "Neo" Home Robot! This is my genuine reaction to one of the most talked-about and controversial tech demos of the year.
The video shows the 5ft 6in Neo robot performing tasks in a home, but there's a major catch. According to the WSJ's Joanna Stern, a lot of the robot's impressive actions were actually being remote-controlled by a human operator using a VR headset in what 1X calls "Expert Mode". The robot is promised for 2026 at a cost of $20,000 or $500 a month.
