Living in Canada means flying drones in winter isn’t optional - it’s reality.
The DJI Mini 5 Pro is officially rated down to −10°C, but for much of the year here, temperatures go far below that. I’ve always wondered how far the system can actually be pushed - and what really matters when flying in extreme cold.
In this video, I test the DJI Mini 5 Pro in real winter conditions around −24 to −25°C, using conservative flight profiles and live monitoring of battery temperature and per-cell voltage. The goal is not range or endurance, but understanding how the drone behaves below the advertised operating temperature and which pilot decisions affect safety the most.
The video includes:
Real outdoor winter flights at −25°C
Live talk-through during flight
Two different flight profiles (low altitude vs climb)
Battery temperature and voltage monitoring
Side-by-side log analysis
This is not advice to ignore manufacturer limits, but a data-driven look at cold-weather behavior for pilots who regularly fly in winter climates.
Fly safe.
