Position: Manager of the PMO

Location: New York City

Status: Full Time

The PMO Manager at this large and very successful Services Organization will own the IT portfolio of projects and will look to ensure that all resources critical to success are properly aligned to meet company standards
You will need to have the following background:


8 + years in a management capacity (staff and projects)
8 + years working and managing in a large global environment.
In-depth knowledge of supporting word processing software, document managements systems, Microsoft project, email applications, distributed time entry programs, spreadsheet and presentations applications, communication applications and Microsoft office suites.
Windows 95/98/2000/2003/XP.
Some travel involved
PMP & ITIL Certifications (great to have)
Some of your responsibilities will include:

Continue to develop, improve, and establish project management policies and procedures for Ensure the existence of a Business Case justifying each project, and a Project Charter approving each implementation and verify project value.
Ensure responsibility is assigned within the organization for seeing that the benefits of each project are actually realized
Report actual benefits relative to intended benefits over the longer term
Mediate conflicts between competing projects
Establish an historic project track record
Provide corporate-wide mentoring and training
Ensure strategies, solutions and best practice are applied across all major projects and programs with the aim of improving quality and reducing cost and timescales.
Provide PMO & ITIL oriented advice and recommendations to assist in the planning and costing of new global initiatives and firm approved innovation submissions.
Interface with outside consultants operating in a global environment determining capabilities and suitability for future global projects
Form and manage internal IT teams as necessary for the projects.
Manage the selection and hiring of all outside consultants monitoring, evaluating and controlling l their performance.
Manage the delivery of projects globally in a professional and cost-effective manner.
Act as Project Manager on major or highly complex projects when necessary.
In association with external consultants, participate in the selection of appropriate forms of contract and procurement routes for each project.

While in a management capacity you will:

Manage the day to day work assignment of the Project Management Team
Assign project managers and/or other resources to projects
Recruit staff and influence retention
Provide mentoring and training
