A conversation exploring creativity, healing, and spirituality inspired by the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Peggy Thompson and Alex Kahn will share how the BWCA has shaped their art, nature connection, and sense of purpose. This session is open to the general public and will offer inspiration and insights for anyone who loves wilderness, creativity, and reflection.
Peggy Thompson -
Peggy was born in 1952 in Chicago Illinois. She received a BFA and MFAfrom the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and taught art in Australia where she fell in love with wilderness. Eventually Peggy moved to Minneapolis , got her Masters of Divinity and became a chaplain for 35 years. She fell in love with The BWCA and has a modest cabin off the Gunflint Trail where she has painted the woods and lakes the last 26 years.
Alex Kahn -
Though a recent Minnesota transplant, Alex Kahn is fully in love with this state and its natural wonder. A paddler through and through, she has been working for 6 years in the outdoor world canoeing, sea kayaking, and helping both adults and children connect their experiences in nature to a sense of action and responsibility. She knows well the tranquility and joy the Boundary Waters offers to people, and considers it an honor to help steward and protect it for generations to come.
