Today, we celebrate the anniversary of Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to the Moon.
On this historic mission, astronaut Bill Anders took the famous “Earthrise” photo, providing the first image of our planet from space. It was on this day in 1968, people from around the world listened as the Apollo 8 crew took turns reading from the Book of Genesis, ending with a Merry Christmas wish for “all of you on the good Earth.”
We’ll soon see a crewed Artemis mission returning to the Moon, continuing the journey to the stars begun more than half a century ago.
