Bernadetta Juras - BUTTERCUP FOR MOTHER (original title in Polish: JASKIER DLA MAMY)

When I was young, I fell ill
only mother cried by my side.
'Queen of Heaven, Queen of Earth,
I carried flowers and herbs,
Bring back my son!'

Then I found myself surrounded by a bright meadow,
full of flowers and herbs,
and swarms of butterflies, dragonflies and bees.
A figure walked towards me from the far end of the meadow.
A grasshopper hopped towards her.

When the figure stood by my side,
bright and beautiful, just like mother,
wearing a blue robe and a golden crown.
Then all the grasses, flowers and herbs,
dragonflies, butterflies and bees,
and hopping grasshoppers
sang to Her:
'Hail, o Mother, Hail, o Mother,
Queen of Heaven, Queen of Earth.'

I looked and listened:
'Go back to your mother, my little son',
the beautiful Lady said
and She gave me a golden buttercup.
I fell down to her feet
and quickly went back to my mother.

'He opened his eyes, looked - and there he was, alive!
My little boy is cured!
Queen of Heaven, Queen of Earth,
You've heard me, You have brought him back to me!'

And I gave her the golden buttercup,
from that meadow, from the Queen,
She took it and hid it in her heart.
That is why she called me a Buttercup.
