Goaso is a vibrant city that serves as the capital of the Asunafo North Municipal District in the picturesque Ahafo Region of Ghana. Nestled amidst lush landscapes, the town boasts a population of approximately 21,146 residents, as reported in the 2010 census. Governance in Goaso is overseen by a traditional council, led by the esteemed Nana Akwasi Bosompra I, who holds the distinguished title of Omanhene, symbolizing his role as the paramount chief.
History:
The origins of Goaso trace back through rich oral traditions, where it was originally known as Goaso Krodadaamu. The early settlers chose to establish their community near the banks of the Goa River. However, due to various challenges associated with living close to the river, the residents made the significant decision to relocate to the current elevated site of the town. This uphill move not only provided them with a safer environment but also allowed the community to flourish in its present-day form.
