Video Tour: “Ai Weiwei: Trace”

Описание: Featuring commentary by the artist himself, this specially created video invites you on a virtual walk-through of the exhibition "Ai Weiwei: Trace," on view at the Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles, May 15–August 1, 2021. Created in 2014, when the famed contemporary artist was under house arrest, the monumental display portrays activists, prisoners of conscience, and advocates of free speech from around the world. On view at the Skirball are eighty-three of the work's original 176 portraits, each one hand-assembled from thousands of LEGO® bricks. Join Skirball Curator Yael Lipschutz for a look at the large-scale installation and learn more about the body of work and the striking wallpaper that surrounds the portraits, also designed by Ai Weiwei.

The exhibition was organized by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC.
