(SHORT BIO) Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834–1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher and one of the most influential Christian ministers of the 19th century. Known as the "Prince of Preachers," he was a strong figure in the Victorian era and is still widely appreciated today for his sermons, which have been translated into over 60 languages.

Spurgeon was born into a family of non-conformist Christians in Kelvedon, Essex. His father was a Congregationalist minister and his mother was a devout believer who encouraged his spiritual growth. At the age of 15, Spurgeon underwent a powerful conversion experience and was soon preaching in small local churches. His oratorical skills and deep understanding of the Bible quickly drew crowds.

In 1854, at just 20 years old, Spurgeon became the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in Southwark, London. His popularity grew rapidly, and the church had to move to larger venues multiple times to accommodate his growing congregation. In 1861, the congregation moved to the newly built Metropolitan Tabernacle in Newington, which could seat approximately 6,000 people. Spurgeon preached there for the next 31 years, reaching a weekly audience of over 10,000.

Spurgeon was a prolific writer and published numerous books, including his sermons, which are collected in multi-volume sets. He was also known as one who loved the King James Bible.
