McDonald's Big Mac Museum - Irwin, PA. Southwestern Pennsylvania is where the Big Mac was born. In 1965, Jim Delligatti, created the sandwich in the kitchen of one of his franchised locations in the Pittsburgh, Pa area. After almost being shot down by McDonald's several times, finally in 1967, it became a Pittsburgh, PA area sandwich debuting in Uniontown, PA southeast of the city of Pittsburgh for 45 cents. In 1968, it became available nationwide and has since become the flagship sandwich of McDonald's worldwide.
This museum pays tribute to Jim Delligatti and has some artifacts dating as far back as the 60s. It also houses the world's largest Big Mac at over 14 feet tall and 12 feet wide.
