Within this video, I examine how literacy tests have been used as a political device to prevent people from exercising their rights as a citizen. I review multiple items on the actual tests that were used during the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's which eventually led to the President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act in 1965, which prohibited literacy tests.
