Porsche 997 runs a lot of laps at PCA Hawaii Autocross NASA\HRSA Auto-x Event

Описание: I bring my black 2005 Porsche 991s 6 speed, 997.1 to a PCA Hawaii Chapter sponsored event through NASA and HRSA for Auto-X at the lower lot of Aloha Stadium. this is a solo race, time attack event through narrow cones. These events are very rare in Hawaii so I am honored to be able to bring a car to these events, my 997 is not fast as my 991, mostly because of the PDK and secondly the 991 has more power. The Black 997 performed perfectly and started getting faster as the day went on, mostly I think the track got hot and sticky so all the cars got quicker. hard to believe this is was a broken down project car 2 years ago and now it races and competes. Andy the current President of PCA Hawaii brought his 2018 Porsche 911 GTS and I could not catch him, his skill has improved and he put on new tires Sport Cup 2, and he was fast. The best part of these events is only 10 cars for 2 hours and people get tired quick, after the first hour there were only 4 cars on the course and the last 30 minutes only 2 and so you are running hard for 40 seconds and waiting 40 seconds to run hard again. so the car got a little warm in the oil temps, which had me concerned 250' but I remembered not to turn off the engine and let it idle down and cool it self and it was fine after 5-10 minutes.

Additionally I think the car likes to go fast. The harder I drive the car the smoother it runs, I think I have blown out all the carbon in the exhaust and ran the injectors at enough full duty cycle that they have cleaned them selves out, if that is possible. The breaks were brand new with only 400 miles on them at the time of the event and were squeaky, but after just a few hard laps. the pads must have seated in good and no longer squeak or squeal. I did not count how many laps I did and the go pro in the car died at 90 minutes leaving the last 30 minutes without footage.

ultimately it was 2 hours of almost non stop laps in non modified Porsche 911 with summer performance street tires from Kumho.
