Using a Full Face Snorkeling Mask for the first time - $20 Pool Toy or Ocean Tool?

Описание: I always thought these Full Face Mask Snorkels were a Gimmicky Joke, but we finally got around to trying this mask made by Crane for ALDI. Found on the Aldi Finds aisle for around $20. This is the first time we have ever used a Full Face Mask type of snorkel. I always thought these were Gimmicky and would ultimately suck, but SURPRISINGLY it works really well, although there are some issues.

This type of Full Face Snorkel really fixes a lot of issues I've had with traditional Face Masks, with leaking seals and Fogging Lenses. Plus YOU CAN TALK IN THIS mask which is really awesome and something I've been wanting to do since I was a kid seeing those cool scuba diving full face masks. Now I'm not sure I would trust this mask in the ocean, as you have 4 points of contact on the head for the straps and can't easily rip it off the face or put it back on, especially if you are in choppy water or surf. For using in the Swimming Pool though, THIS THING IS AWESOME!

Part of the issue I have with these full face snorkels is that they are overly complicated by design. A traditional snorkel is really easy when it comes to how it works. With these Full Face Snorkels you are breathing in through a tube sending the air down across your face and then through a set of one way valves into your mouth chamber. When exhaling the air is supposed to not pass back into the eye section, but go out of side vents and a front vent that only works when BLOWING REALLY HARD for when you are clearing any water that might get in. In practice this works really well, but if one part fails then the whole thing will fail and you run the risk of rebreathing your exhaled breath. In practice we didn't have this issue, but it's always a possibility. The full face Snorkel is really a cool and fun toy to play with though and when Aldi gets these back in I'd probably buy a couple more for everybody. They do come in multiple sizes to fit everyones faces, including kids.
