Sometimes you have to try things yourself. This year we planted "African jelly melons," AKA "kiwano melons," to see how they would do in our climate - and if we would like eating them. They did decently until the rains came... but as for liking them...
Finding the best Florida and Alabama vegetable varieties takes work, so we keep gardening and testing every year. We might try these again, but they sure weren't much to write home about.
