Oyata Shuffle, the Bunkai Process of Taika Seiyu Oyata has been simplified into an easy to use game which helps students understand how to analyze kata and deepen their training. The more one trains in this type of manner, the faster their response time is in an encounter after the event moves from the initial motions.
This method was originally taught to Taika Seiyu Oyata by his two, post-war instructors Uhugushiku and Wakinaguri. The original method was in using scrolls he inherited and Taika made a more randomized method with small photographs. With the advent of Print on Demand services such as makeplayingcards.com, it is relatively easy for you to take pictures of the kata in your system and upload them, and within a short time have a deck of cards to shuffle.
I frequently teach this at seminars as well as a regular event in the dojo.
