Описание: Filmed at Totnes station just after midnight, this unusual yellow machine is DR80210, one of Network Rail’s specialist stoneblowers. Rather than lifting and vibrating the track like traditional tamping machines, stoneblowers inject crushed stone beneath the sleepers using compressed air to precisely re-level and stabilise the rails. This technique is especially important on fragile routes such as the South Devon main line, with its coastal sections, tunnels and historic earthworks. There are only around fourteen stoneblowers operating across the UK, and they usually work overnight when passenger services have finished.
