Cadillac was dubbed the "World Standard" since its early days, and it has lived up to that title over the years as the largest luxury automaker in the United States. Founded by Henry Leland in 1902, the firm has targeted the luxury market from the outset. Her first inventions were interchangeable parts, an electric starter, a hardtop and a V8 engine. In 1909, Cadillac became part of the General Motors concern and since then has been its luxury division.
