How can you stop oil from staining your concrete?
Is there a gas and oil resistant concrete sealer?

The answer is yes. There definitely is a gas and oil resistant concrete sealer.
And if it's for interior applications, trowel finished concrete or smooth concrete, CoverTec recommends the CoverShield U140.

Does oil permanently stain concrete?
It depends on the type of concrete you have, and the porosity of the capillaries.
Oil can get deep into the concrete, and it can become very difficult to remove it.

So, if you have new concrete, or even existing concrete, we strongly recommend that you seal it with a film-forming sealer designed specifically for interior concrete.
We recommend film forming sealers, something like our CoverShield U140, which is a gas and oil resistant concrete sealer.

If it's exterior, like exposed aggregate or broom finished, and it's open to the elements like the rain, the wind, sun, and snow… then we recommend using a penetrating sealer.
In these cases, there's no film on the surface. It's actually in the concrete, and it provides excellent repellence to oil and gas staining.

In our experience, a topical sealer works best for interior concrete, because it tends to be hardened or more dense than exterior concrete.
Typically, it's smooth troweled, machine finished or even polished. Putting a thin film across the surface acts as an absolute barrier, stopping the oil, gas, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid from getting into that concrete.

Now, you should make sure that your choice of sealer should have high solids. You should also make sure that it's hard-wearing. It needs to bond well to the concrete. Our CoverShield U140 has a high solid content. It's got over 30% solids, but it's developed to go deep in a thin coat, typically 800 to 1000 square feet across the surface of your concrete.
