Side planks are a highly effective core exercise that strengthen the muscles responsible for spinal stability, pelvic control, and posture. They target the deep stabilisers of the trunk, helping improve balance, reduce injury risk, and support the lower back during everyday movements.
Start with 10–20 seconds holds. Aim to build up for 20–40 seconds. Always do it on BOTH sides. Hold only as long as you can maintain a straight line and steady breathing. If you can only do a couple of seconds - start there.
