It's a very special day for us , as we have done mundan sanskar ? Tonsure ceremony of Viraaj here in Rishikesh at Parmarth Niketan Ashram .

The Chudakarana or the Mundana sanskar is the eighth of the sixteen Hindu sanskars in which a child receives his / her first haircut.
this sanskar should take place at the end of first year or before the expiry of the third year.

At Rishikesh, on the banks of the Ganges, there is a special chudakarana or mundana sanskar. In this ceremony, along with cutting and shaving hair, Vedic mantras and prayers are chanted by trained priests / acharyas The child's head is shaven and the hair is then symbolically offered to the holy river. The child and his/her family then perform a sacred yagya ceremony and the Ganga Aarti.


Mundan Sanskar, also known as Tonsure Ceremony, is a traditional Hindu ritual where a child's head is shaved for the first time. This ceremony is believed to symbolize the shedding of the child's past life and the start of a new one.
