🧀 Khachapuri Recipe (Georgian Cheese Bread)
📌 Ingredients
🥖 For the Dough:
1 cup warm milk
1 cup warm water
4 g instant yeast
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 egg
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
½ teaspoon salt
300 g flour (add gradually and adjust as needed)
🧀 For the Filling:
400 g shredded mozzarella
100 g shredded kashar cheese
(optionally mixed with ricotta or farmer’s cheese)
🧈 For the Topping:
1 egg (optional, for the center)
1 tablespoon butter
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and warm water. Add the yeast and sugar, stir, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
2️⃣ Add the vegetable oil, egg, and salt. Gradually add the flour and knead into a soft, slightly sticky dough.
3️⃣ Cover the dough and let it rise for about 45–60 minutes.
4️⃣ Divide the risen dough into portions and roll each into an oval shape.
5️⃣ Place plenty of cheese in the center. Fold the edges inward to form a boat shape.
6️⃣ Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) until golden brown.
7️⃣ Remove from the oven, crack an egg into the center, add butter, and return to the oven for 1–2 more minutes.
8️⃣ Serve hot.
