BRITISH MUSEUM: A SLAP IN GREECE’S FACE OR A TONE-DEAF OVERSIGHT?

Mick Jagger, Janet Jackson, Naomi Campbell, and Kristin Scott Thomas were spotted dining among Greece’s stolen treasures at the British Museum’s £2,000-a-seat “Pink Ball.”
Do they even understand the irony? The audacity?
These statues were taken from Greece — and now they’re being used as a backdrop for selfies and champagne toasts.
If the event was meant to celebrate Indian heritage, why not host the dinner in front of the Indian exhibit?
Instead, they feasted under the Parthenon Sculptures — the very pieces Greece has been fighting to have returned for decades.
As someone of Greek descent, I can’t stay quiet.
Greece isn’t asking for favors — it’s demanding justice.
Culture Minister Lina Mendoni called the dinner “offensive” and “provocative.” And she’s right. Using sacred history as decoration isn’t culture — it’s captivity.
Greek actress and filmmaker Mimi Denissi, whom I’ve met, called the dinner “a clear insult to Greece.” She’s taking action — her new documentary with ERT airs this November, exposing the truth about the Parthenon Sculptures and the fight to bring them home.
The British Museum has turned the Parthenon into a party room, and the world into spectators. It’s giving colonial cosplay with champagne service.
What do you think — a clueless oversight, or a deliberate insult to Greece and cultural respect? 🇬🇷
