For many people, when they hear the word 'comics', they think 'superheroes'. They think of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. And while Marvel and DC Comics have created some artful stories and wonderful characters, comics are not just superheroes. Traditional comics culture (or cultures) consists of a lot more than spandex and capes. We asked our speakers to define traditional comics culture to understand how their work continues or challenges comics precedence.
What do they think when they hear 'traditional comics culture'? Let us know in the comments below. See you next week!

About Creating Comics UK
Being equal parts enlightening and entertaining, Creating Comics UK documents the careers and experiences of individuals from marginalised identity groups working in the UK comics industry. By doing so, this channel will advocate for and amplify diverse comics perspectives and realities. We exist to celebrate our comics community. As this video project develops, Creating Women aims to be a forum for discourse, a platform for creators, and a resource for any person interested in celebrating Britain’s rich comics culture and the individuals behind it.
