In 1808, the powerful New South Wales Corps controlled the profitable rum trade in the penal colony of Sydney. When the new governor, Captain William Bligh (the very same from the infamous Mutiny on the Bounty), tried to shut it down, the soldiers took matters into their own hands, leading to the unbelievable moment they marched on Government House and arrested him.
