Close obsevation of the chicks is extremely important, making sure their crops clear, cearful you or the parents are not over feeding.
The benefits of raiseing cockatiels this way are numerous.
With supplementary feeding the chicks will still imprint on you, and with the parents in the picture, they sit the eggs and the chicks. The bulk of what the chicks get feed is what you feed the adults.
In my case, it's fresh veg chop daily, never frozen, 50/50 peachface and budgie mix, 50/50 vetafarm micro pelets and black parot breed and grow, with boilded eggs or a small amount very lean chicken once a week.
The parents teach them to be birds, fly and all that, and there's much less chance of inappropriate bonding, your bird going full gross Ray Charles shake a tail feather on the top of your head, in sort, super gross, and not good for the bird physical or mental health.
Also it's less cost for handrasing formula, less wastage of food, the parents will eat everything to feed the chicks, it's less tramatic of the birds over all.
