When you are involved in a lawsuit, you may need to take part in what is known as a deposition. In New York, this is also called Examination Before Trial, or EBT. This is a time when you and your attorneys, along with the attorneys for the other side sit down alongside a court reporter, and you will be asked several questions under oath.

Your answers to these questions are very important, and your answers can be used against you in court if your case is not resolved before trial. Both the plaintiff and the defendant are subject to the use of their deposition answers against them in court. If we are representing you as the plaintiff, we will also have the opportunity to question the defendant you are suing in the same manner.

If answers given during a trial do not match deposition answers provided previously, it can be devastating to a case. That is why it is very important that your EBT answers under oath be truthful. Watch the video to learn more.
