Track 4 from their self-titled debut album “Prism” released in 1977 copyright GRT Records. It was recorded at Can-Base Studios in Vancouver where the band was formed. Trumpet player and rookie producer Bruce Fairbairn would go on to greatness in later years recording albums for many of the biggest rock bands of the 80’s and 90’s including Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, AC/DC & Van Halen. Sadly, in 1999, he was found dead in his Vancouver home by Jon Anderson of Yes during the mixing sessions for Yes’ album “The Ladder.” His cause of death was ruled unknown. Most of the songs on the album were written by drummer Jim Vallance under the pseudonym Rodney Higgs. He left the band soon after the album was released and continued his career as Bryan Adam’s songwriting partner and a notable producer of other artists including Celine Dion. Guitarist Tom Lavin went on to be the frontman and principle songwriter for his new group the Powder Blues Band and bassist Ab Bryant later became a member of the bands Chilliwack and Headpins. In 1984 the members of the original lineup, who were only together for this album, began making plans to regroup. On a dark and snowy Christmas Eve night, singer Ron Tabak decided to ride his bike to keyboardist John Hall’s home to discuss plans for the reunion. It’s believed that he was sideswiped by a vehicle, which caused him to crash his bike and suffer a head injury. He was taken to a Burnaby hospital by ambulance, at which point he became erratic and uncooperative. He began to slur his words and became abusive with the medical staff. Suspecting alcohol or drug abuse, the police were called, he was arrested and that “long-haired troublemaker” was thrown in the drunk tank overnight. He was found unconscious the next morning and was transported back to the hospital. Doctors found a large blood clot had formed on his brain due to the head injury and it was deemed responsible for his actions the night before, which were completely out of character for him. As doctors were preparing to operate, he sadly passed away on the morning of Christmas Day. On March 8, 2011, the song “Spaceship Superstar” was played for the crew of the shuttle Discovery as they awoke at the International Space Station to embark on their return flight to Earth and the end of their final mission. Discovery had been in space for at least a year of total flight time on its many missions, the most of any space shuttle, and was retired from service. The song was inspired by the movie “Star Wars” which was released the same year. The album received average reviews and although hugely successful in Canada, where it was certified Platinum in 1983, it only reached No. 137 on the Billboard chart. Recorded from the original vinyl. Written by Jim Vallance and produced by Bruce Fairbairn. RIP Ron Tabak, Bruce Fairbairn & Rocket Norton. Featuring:

Whoa, come on
The planet dies and no one cries
So hard to believe
If there was somewhere else to go
You know I'd be the first to leave
I don't mean to sound ungrateful
But I'm afraid that I just can't stay
I had a dream the other night
And as the dream unfurled
I took a trip in a rocket ship
And I found another world
They told me about their Kaptin
Then I asked him "Could I stay?"
I said (Take me to the Kaptin and tell him why I'm here
(I want to stay in your world while my world disappears)
Won't you (take me to the Kaptin and tell him why I'm here?)
(I want to stay in your world while my world disappears)
I had a dream the other night
And as the dream unfurled
I took a trip in a rocket ship
And I found another world
They told me about their Kaptin
Then I asked him "Could I stay?"
I said (Take me to the Kaptin and tell him why I'm here)
(I want to stay in your world while my world disappears)
(Won't you take me to the Kaptin and tell him why I'm here?)
(I want to stay in your world while my world disappears) whoa
(Take me to the Kaptin and tell him why I'm here)
(I want to stay in your world while my world disappears)
(Take me to the Kaptin and tell him why I'm here)
(I want to stay in your world while my world disappears) whoa
(Take me to the Kaptin, c'mon and tell him why I'm here)
(I want to stay in your world)
