How to take out the main centre panel of dashboard on a Citroen Xsara Hatchback.
The drivers side air vent (and the passenger side one aswell) were broken on this Xsara, its not a huge issue, but its one of them niggling faults which irritate me. Getting the passenger side air vent out is fairly easy, the drivers side air vent looks like it might pop out of the dash panel but trying it that way will most likely result in breaking the vent and leaving pry marks, the centre panel needs to be removed to get it out.
But while its out you get a chance to change any blown bulbs for the instrument cluster, even sand the centre panel down and paint it to spruce up the interior a bit.
Its not a hard job, just a bit fiddly and time consuming given how small a problem it is, my solution for the broken air vent slat seems to work quite well, its both stronger and cheaper than a replacement slat.
