In Case of Face Centred Cubic Lattice there are three different types of planes like (100), (110) and (111).
The inter planner distance is represented by symbol ‘d’.
(i) Plane (100): Plane (100) are represented in figure below. These are mid point of two faces of the cube and the distance between them is equal to the half of length of the cube.
Therefore, d100 = a/2
(ii) Plane (110): Planes (110) are the planes in between the planes like in simple cubic structure, so
d110 = a/2√2
(iii) Plane (111): Planes (111) is similar to the planes like in simple cubic structure, so
d111 = a/√3
Thus, the ratio of these inter planar distances for face centred cubic lattice can be given as,
