This isn't really jazz. At all.

And that's a good thing! I've always wanted to arrange this tune as a sort of orchestral, jazz fusion, metal infused hybrid - I kind of left the "jazz fusion" part behind the minute I decided it'd be cool to get an electric guitar solo on this and throw in some sick half-time beats, but I'm really happy with it. Sometimes it's really cool to work outside your comfort zone - there are a lot of crazy cool moments in this cover that I probably never would have thought to write if it wasn't in this context, and having friends to help lift those off the page made it all the more exciting! (I do have to say, there was a point where I sent a short part of this to a friend and he thought it was an Trans-Siberian Orchestra recording at first, so there's that!)
