🔍 Comparing CNC Probe Repeatability: Best Mounting Method Revealed
In this video, we compare the repeatability of a CNC probe mounted in three different ways:
1️⃣ Fixed rotary probe (DIG3D.R)
2️⃣ ISO20 tool holder for ATC spindles
3️⃣ Direct insertion into a spindle collet
Using the same measurement system and test procedure, we perform 10 full measurement cycles for each setup and analyze the results.
You’ll see how mounting methods affect both measurement accuracy and setup time—and which option gives you the best balance of speed, convenience, and precision.
📏 Results:
✔ DIG3D.R rotary probe – repeatability down to 3 µm (0.12 mil)
✔ Tool holder mount – 20 µm (0.79 mil)
✔ Spindle collet mount – 23 µm (0.91 mil)
