Master linear algebra by learning how to determine linear maps. This video explains the core concept that a linear map is completely defined by its action on a basis of a vector space.
We prove that for any set of vectors {w_1, w_2, ..., w_n} in a vector space W, there exists a unique linear map f:V → W that maps each basis vector v_j to the given w_j. We also discuss how every linear map from F^n to F^m can be uniquely represented by a matrix.
