Surah Aal-e-Imran (arabic: سورة آل عمران ) is the 3rd Surah of the Holy Quran which comprises of a total of 200 verses (or ayats). It is classified as Medinan Surah and the title of this surah in English is "The Family of Imran".

Aal-e-Imran means "The Family of Imran". Imran was the father of Prophets Musa and Haroon -peace be upon them. There are references in this Surah to these two great Prophets of Allah and then the story of Mary and birth of Jesus is mentioned.

The main topics of this Surah are Tawhid, Prophethood and the truth of the Qur' an. As Surah al-Baqarah discussed the issues related to Bani Israel, this Surah discusses some issues related to the Christian community and their religious positions. It also discusses the subjects of Hajj, Jihad, Zakat and Riba. It ends, like Surah al-Baqarah, with a dua.

Benefits of Reciting Surah Al Imran:

• The one who recites this Surah on the day on Friday, he will have the mercy of Allah till sunset and the angels will also pray for his forgiveness.

• The one who is facing problems in earning his livelihood should write it on a paper and wrap it in a cloth and wear it. Then he will never face any hardship in earning his livelihood.

• For a woman giving birth to a child; give her this Surah written on paper and wrapped in a cloth. It will conceive her in giving birth to a child.
