The hike began under overcast skies, passing through a beautiful, lush forest before opening into stunning alpine meadows. The blueberry bushes were turning color for the end of summer, adding beautiful reds and oranges throughout the landscape.

As I continued higher, I found myself hiking through the clouds, with mist and fog creating an incredibly peaceful and atmospheric feeling. I was starting to wonder if the clouds would ever clear, especially because this hike is all about the spectacular mountain views.

Then, slowly, the clouds began to break. The first glimpse of Diamond Head appeared through the mist, and the mountains seemed to emerge right in front of me.

By the time I got closer to the lakes, the clouds had completely disappeared. Suddenly there were incredible 360-degree mountain views in every direction.

It turned into one of those perfect days in the mountains: peaceful, refreshing and absolutely majestic. I was completely blissed out.

I was lucky enough to see six bears during the hike, although only a mother and her cub were captured on camera, from a safe distance.
