*Rare* Airbus A330 on Dublin to Manchester | Full Flight | EI200 Aer Lingus - Trip Report

Описание: Widebodies on Shorthaul routes are rare in Europe. So when Dublin to Manchester on Aer Lingus's Airbus A330-300 went on sale for just €25 we just had to give it a go. Widebodies are even rarer on such short routes, with this flight taking around 35-40 mins despite being scheduled for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Since short flights bring forward an aircraft's useful life forward significantly for a widebody, airlines refrain from using them unless absolutely necessary combined with long dwell times, higher charges due to need to use more space at an airport, more crew and of course more fuel they are expensive to operate. That is why despite it being scheduled on EI200 an adhoc flight used to accommodate transfer passengers through Dublin while Aer Lingus Manchester staff strike (in other words what could be called union busting tactics) Aer Lingus downgauged to an A321 on 01/11/2025 when the bookings on the aircraft were so low that an A330 on it was unecessary.

Luckily our Sunday flight was full so we did not get downgauged and we got to experience this rarity of a widebody on Manchester. They are also scheduled to operate adhocs during other strike days in Manchester later in November, though beware they will be downgauged if the bookings are low enough to fit on a 321 or 320.

Enjoy the full flight which I film from start to finish seated in 34K which gives us full city views of both Dublin and Manchester on board St. Carthage EI-GAJ one of the newest A330s in the Aer Lingus fleet. We take off from Dublin's Runway 28R and land on Manchester's 23R.

Despite landing at 09:22 it was not 10:50 nearly an hour and a half later before we finally left the airport due to over 20 minutes stuck waiting at the taxiway for our stand due to renovation works and 15 minutes stuck on the shuttle bus which stopped at the gate and wouldn't let us out with no information. This means we spent double the flight time waiting to deboard, on taxiways or on buses at the airport!
