In today's English video lesson we'll have a look at some necessary kitchen vocabulary, focusing on how you can cook on the counter (or counter top), on the stove, in the oven and in the microwave oven. From popular kitchen and cooking verbs to kitchen appliances, tools, utensils, dishes, etc.

This is a heavy lesson to watch in one sitting, so maybe watch the video in parts and take your time to write down the vocabulary and focus on the pronunciation.

On the counter:

Chop the vegetables
Crush the ice and add it to your drink
Break two eggs
Whisk the egg whites in a bowl
Squeeze a lemon
Season the steak with spices
Dress the salad with vinegar and olive oil
Peel potatoes
Slice bread, ham,
Blend / mix ingredients together

On the stove:

Boil the soup for 2 hours
Fry / deep fry the fish
Make / prepare a stew
Grease the pan with butter
Melt the sugar in the pan
Steam some vegetables
Stir the stew
Stir-fry veggies and noodles in the wok
Pour some wine in the pot
Grate some cheese over the mushrooms

In the oven and/or microwave:

Pre-heat the oven
Bake a cake, potatoes, muffins, pastry
Grill vegetables, meat, fish,
Roast some chicken
Heat the coffee in the microwave
Defrost the chicken in the microwave
